Frequently Asked Questions

How does this site work?

You can browse through all the videos we have on the site and watch previews of them at any time.
There is new media (video & music) coming online each week, much of which is not available anywhere else.

Once you sign up for an account with us, you will be able to purchase and download full length, high resolution versions of any video simply by adding them to your shopping cart.

You can purchase tokens of credit in varying amounts starting at $10 and each video you select for download will be deducted from the credit on your account. (Just like a prepaid phone account)

If you do not use all of your credit up, the balance will remain on the system until next time you visit and find another program you like!

How can I play the videos?

Once downloaded, the videos can be played  on your computer (full screen), on your MP4 device (IPODs etc) or you can burn them to a DVD or CD and watch them on your TV set. For instructions see "Watching clips on my TV" (At the bottom of this page).

What quality are the clips I'm buying?

We offer downloads in 2 different formats (Windows Media (WMV) and iPod ready (M4V)).
Each of these formats is available in two sizes: Large (640 x 480) and small (320 x 240).
Large is good for Computer & TV watching. Small is good for portable devices (like IPODs)

If you would like to see an example of the quality, please click the links below.

How long do I have to download my videos?

From the date of purchase, you have 14 days to download the videos you have purchased.  If you require access to videos again after the links have expired, please contact our staff regarding having the links reinstated.

Are the videos & music copyright?

All videos feature an "encoded copyright beacon", which means, if you copy and send purchased media to other people,
we receive notification everytime it is played, that the clip was bought by you, but is being played by someone else.
For web systems like this to be available, a certain amount of trust is required that people will do the right thing.
Copyright infringement of all material on this site is a federal crime and will be treated as such.

How large are the files I'm purchasing?

When you preview a video, the file sizes (in megabytes) are displayed on screen. This is important for a couple of reasons:

- these videos will take some time to download once you have purchased them depending on your connection speed.

- your internet service provider (ISP) may charge you for the data you download and these videos would count towards any such charges.  Please familiarise yourself with the internet plan you are on and how much data you have available to you before downloading any of our videos.  ChannelOZ is not responsible for any ISP charges incurred through use of this site.

My video downloads keep stopping or run short!

Generally speaking, if your files keep stopping during download or when you play the video back it isn't all there,
it is a connection problem. (This is where you test how good your connection and ISP are!)

Many of the downloads are large files and need a good, fast, stable connection.

This isnt always possible in some areas or with some ISPs and so a DOWNLOAD MANAGER may be helpful.
If you have tried downloading a file several times with no luck, consider installing this simple software

If you have tried these things, please contact us and we will see if we can help.

Is my cart remembered when I leave the site?

Yes - your cart is saved with your account details, so it will always be there when you return.

Do I have to buy everything in my cart when I check out?

No - when you check out you will have the option of ticking only the videos you would like to purchase.  Any videos that you do not purchase will be saved in your cart for your next visit!

Why are some videos not showing when I visit www.channeloz.com.au?

Some agreements we have with content providers stipulate that purchases of their content must be made through their site.  This means that we need you to visit their site first and then click through to our site - this tells our site that the purchase is being made on their behalf.

It's safe to book mark ChannelOZ because we'll always tell you on the front page what's available and offer you a link to help you activate it.

Why won't the files work on my player?

Some generic MP4 devices may not play the files.
ChannelOz supplies download files in native PC and MAC format and this may not be compatible with all devices.

We would suggest downloading the files of your choice and then converting them for your player.

Most players will have a utility to do this supplied with them, if not...

One site we have found useful is http://www.convertmovie.com

Some videos play back incorrectly...?

Video plays back fast! (Windows Media Player) Update your version of Windows Media Player
Video has bad colour and hard to see (You may have downloaded a low res version and be playing it full size)

How can I play the videos on my Television?

Once you have downloaded the media file and saved it to your computer, there are several ways you can transfer the file for TV watching.

1/ VCD
The easiest way to watch the program on your TV is to make a Video CD.
(You will need a blank CD)

Open up your CD writing software (e.g. Nero) and simply add the saved media file to the CD.
The CD software should give you the option to save as a VIDEO CD (VCD)
Thats it! Easy... Once you have written the file, it will play on your home DVD player.

2/ DVD
Another option to watch programs on your TV is to make a DVD.
The advantage of this, is you can have a menu system and more than one program.
The quality may also be better.
(You will need a blank DVD)

Open up your DVD Program (e.g. Windows Movie Maker) & simply import the saved media file into the program.
You can then drag the file onto the time line and save as a DVD.
You can do this with many programs and then add menus if you wish.
We would suggest spending a few minutes and getting to know your way around the software, it doesn't take long!

Thats it! Easy... Once you have written the file, it will play on your home DVD player.

Note: Video downloads to be used should be LARGE files (640 x 480)
Whilst the small ones can be used, the quality will be poor.

The videos on this site, whilst good quality are not MPEG 2, so will be a little different than normal DVDs
